Outreach with a Smile: CHANTELLE COMEAU

The smiling face you see at any of KidsFirst’s volunteer or outreach events is Chantelle Comeau, our Volunteer, Community Education and Outreach Manager.

Born and raised in South Lake Tahoe, Chantelle has always had a passion for public service. During her undergrad years at Sac State, had the opportunity to work as a residential counselor at the Children’s Receiving Home and to serve as a site coordinator for AmeriCorps Reading Partners. With a degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology, her affinity for public service soon turned global; one year after graduation she was accepted into the Peace Corps as a community education promoter in Guyana, South America.

Upon returning to the US, she began her work at KidsFirst. Chantelle has recently accepted a position with ETR Associates, a nonprofit health equity organization in Sacramento, as a community outreach and advocacy specialist, focusing on creating a policy platform for tobacco-related issues in rural communities. She will continue to work for KidsFirst part-time and, in this transition, Chantelle will continue to support KidsFirst GIRLeader program, and Leap Jr.

When asked what her favorite memory during her time at KidsFirst was, Chantelle responded, “My favorite memory would have to be attending the Santa parties for our families. Seeing their faces light up when they took a family portrait, then received a framed copy is not only rewarding to witness, but you can feel the love and pride our families have.”

We are sad to see Chantelle go and grateful for her enthusiasm and energy that have filled our Roseville office. For any volunteer, intern or program questions, you can still reach Chantelle at ccomeau@kidsfirstnow.org.
